Olivia is a senior in the class of 2023 at Louisville High School and we held her early August senior portrait session at the campus of Mount Union and Glamorgan Castle in Alliance. Olivia had made some impeccable wardrobe selections for her session and our first order of business was to decide where to use each outfit and establish a plan for the evening. I could immediately tell that I was going to have fun working with Olivia and her beautiful smile.
Olivia's first outfit was this feminine, boho-inspired dress that she said she had literally found in the back of her closet. It was so perfect! We found some soft backgrounds to compliment this outfit as well as the brick arch to create contrast. I simply couldn't resist capturing Olivia in this dress in front of the infamous Chapman Hall where the color harmony worked so well.
Olivia is a very busy senior, indeed. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Spirit Club, and Jo's mentoring. She is a very dedicated lacrosse player as she plays on both the high school and club teams. With her sights on a future in the medical field, she is active in the pre-med club. On top of all of that, she works at the YMCA.
Olivia's second outfit is this beautiful green camisole with the black pants. When Olivia first showed me this outfit, I knew immediately where I wanted to capture the portraits. This arbor area is so perfect to maintain the deep, rich colors and to allow for Olivia to pop. She proclaimed that this was her least favorite outfit, but we actually created some of her favorite portraits in it.
Olivia's friends would describe her as determined, hard-working, caring, helpful and kind. All of those descriptors certainly fit with the girl that I was so fortunate to capture in portraits. It also makes perfect sense why she would be involved and successful in so many activities.
For Olivia's third look, we decided to move our location down the street to Glamorgan Castle where I knew her yellow dress would pop. Her brilliant idea to bring some fresh-cut flowers paid off in a big way. These portraits are so stunning! Placing her among the beautiful yellow flowers was incredibly effective.
To better know Olivia beyond her activities and accomplishments, we can take note of some of the things that she loves. Country and pop are the music genres that most appeal to her. She loves pasta and vacationing in Key West, Florida. Her favorite movie is The Notebook and she loves sharks (the animal species).
Olivia's fourth outfit was inspired by some portraits she had seen on Pinterest. This inspiration led to the portraits that we created around the steps. I knew that the white shirt with the faded denim would look fabulous with the tones in the stone of the castle. You can't go wrong with blooming white hydrangeas either. That smile just continues to light up every image.
Olivia feels that something she will miss from high school is the sporting events. They are so much fun and something she has always looked forward to. Everyone can connect at them and all come together to support our town; it’s so fun to see and be a part of that. One thing that she will be happy to leave behind is the drama. She feels that everyone constantly knows what everyone is doing and she is ready to leave it behind.
For Olivia's final look, we make another move to the stadium where she plays lacrosse. As you can see, we had lost our daylight, but the stadium lights and my off-camera lighting can allow us to continue to capture beautiful portraits. I have to say that I am a fan of both the serious and the smiley expressions.
Olivia has big plans for the future. She intends to get a degree in chemistry and then move on to graduate school where she will pursue something in the medical field. She wants to work with kids and help them to feel comfortable seeing a doctor.
Oh, Olivia! Every segment of your senior portrait session was amazing because you brought your authentic self and allowed me to capture it. I have no doubt that you will move on to do great things and I will be part of your fan club. Best wishes to you always.
What did Olivia have to say about her Senior Portrait Session?
"I chose Laura Esposito Photography because I loved how natural the photos she had taken are. A lot of photos are highly edited with filters. She perfectly represents the person in the photo. I also heard how comfortable it is to get photos done with her, and it is definitely true! It was very easy and stress free. Laura was understanding and made me feel comfortable even though I hate getting my pictures done. I especially love the photos in my green outfit. That whole location with that outfit is stunning. I would advise others not to stress before hand because Laura has everything figured out and will listen to your thoughts."
