Carter is a 2024 Senior in Early College High School at Lehman which is part of Canton McKinley High School in Ohio. We held his October senior portrait session at the Canton Garden Center, McKinley Monument and the CT Branin Natatorium.
When I met with Carter and his Mom for his pre-session consultation, it was clear to me that swimming was important to him. We planned our evening accordingly so that we could have access to the Natatorium where we could create the portraits that would become his favorites.
On that beautiful October day, we met up at the Canton Garden Center to start his session. He arrived in a dress shirt with a great small print in a nice light tan color. We created portraits with a little more formal feel in this outfit and also incorporated his violin which was fun.
Carter pays this violin in the Early College High School Orchestra. He is also in the National Honor Society. He is very dedicated to his involvement in swimming. He has been a captain on the McKinley Swim Team for three years. He is also on the CCS Swim Team and is a lifeguard at the CT Branin Natatorium.
Carter's second outfit is this buffalo check flannel with black jeans that were so perfect for the more casual portraits. We worked around some of my favorite areas at the Garden Center. This involved getting down into the creek and fortunately, Carter was up for it. There were so many perfect settings for this look.
Carter's friends would describe him as a good guy who is funny and hard-working. These are traits that will most certainly serve him well. When Carter isn't swimming, he likes to study history, play video games, and speak with various accents and dialects. I love it!
We moved from the Garden Center to the Monument for our next portion of the session. Carter changed into his next outfit which was another winner dress shirt. This blue looks so good on him, and I love that the print adds interest but isn't distracting. So perfect!
We captured the iconic doors along with more portraits with the violin. We even included his telescope which was a fun first for me! I loved it!
Carter has several favorites that make him even more interesting. He likes the Star Wars movies and Pirates of the Caribbean. His music of choice is contemporary Christian music. His favorite YouTubers are Self (Cart), Simple History, and theb. He likes eating at BJ's and loves Mexican and Italian food.
It was time for us to make the short drive to the CT Branin Natatorium. I feel like I saw Carter come to life when we were working in this environment. It really does seem like home to him. He changed into his swim gear and we were ready to go.
I had come up with a whole set of swim sample images that I shared with Carter and together, we chose our favorites that we wanted to create. This was so incredibly fun for me. The magic of off-camera flash makes so many different looks possible. There are too many favorites for me to name.
Carter knows that he will miss the high school swim team and all of the friends that he has made here. He plans to study history at Malone University and swim for the Pioneers swim team there.
Carter, you were an absolute delight for me to work with! Thank you for trusting me with your senior portraits. I am so excited that you will continue swimming in college and I wish you all the best!
"My mom found Laura through a friend from church. We chose Laura Esposito Photography because of the picture quality and Laura's willingness to take photos in the locations we wanted - especially the swim photos. I liked that it wasn't anything super strict, and I got to relax and enjoy the photo session. I liked the swimming ones at the Natatorium where I am coming up out of the water. Another spot I liked was in front of the doors at the McKinley Monument. My advice to other seniors is to have fun and take pictures of you doing what you like the most." -Carter
