Let’s be real… senior portraits are a big deal. This is your time to shine, to show off who you really are, and to capture this exciting moment in your life. But here’s the thing: a truly amazing senior portrait session does not just happen on its own. That is why I include a pre-session consultation for every senior and their family. This fun, laid-back meeting happens about 2-3 weeks before your session, and it is all about making sure you feel totally prepared, confident, and excited!

This is our chance to meet up—just you, at least one parent, and me—so we can go over all the important details before your big day. I know you have already received a bunch of info in emails, but this meeting is my way of making sure you have actually read it (no judgment if you have not!). Plus, it gives you a chance to ask any questions and make sure there are no surprises.

I kick things off by explaining what we will cover, and I want you to stop me anytime you hear something you love or want to include in your session. And just a heads-up—I get pretty excited about what I do! You can expect me to be animated and maybe a little goofy because I genuinely love making this experience fun for you.

Your senior portraits should be all about who you are. What makes you unique? How do you want to be remembered? We will bring all of that to life through your style—your outfits, the locations we pick, the way you pose, and the expressions we capture.

I also want your parents to be part of this conversation. I ask them how they see you and what they hope to get out of these portraits. This can get pretty emotional (in the best way), because it is a chance for them to share what they love most about you. Trust me—it is a really special moment!

Once we have nailed down your vision, we will dive into the nitty-gritty. We will talk about what is included in your session, what to expect, and go over a few FAQs. Then, I will give you a simple roadmap to help you prepare. This covers clothing, props, hair, makeup—basically everything you need to show up feeling 100% ready. I even give you a checklist of what to bring on the day of your session so nothing gets left behind.

When it comes to outfit selection, I suggest bringing a mix of looks:

• A classic outfit—great for college and scholarship applications.

•Something you love—an outfit that makes you feel confident and totally like yourself.

• A bold or trendy choice—something a little more fun or edgy to mix it up.

• An outfit your mom will adore—because let’s be honest, this is just as special for her!

As we wrap up, I will challenge you to start thinking about what you want your portraits to feel like. We will go through some sample galleries to pick a location that matches your vibe. I even encourage you to find an image that inspires you—whether it is from an ad, a magazine, or social media. If you have seen something cool, send it my way! I love a creative challenge.

Pinterest and Instagram are great for gathering inspiration, and I am totally on board with you texting me outfit ideas or anything you are loving. The more we plan ahead, the more seamless and fun your session will be. This way, we get tons of amazing images without feeling rushed or stressed.

Beyond all the planning, this consultation is about getting to know each other and building trust. By the time we meet for your actual session, we will feel like old friends. You will know exactly what to expect, and I will have everything I need to make sure your session is nothing short of amazing.

By the end of our meeting, you and your family will walk away feeling informed, inspired, and totally pumped for your session. Planning is not just necessary—it is part of the fun! And when the big day arrives, you will be ready to rock it. I cannot wait to create portraits that you will absolutely love!
